Life in the UK test is mandatory for anyone who wants to apply for British citizenship or permanent residence or indefinite leave to remain in the UK. The objective and purpose of Life in the UK test is to ensure that all applicants have adequate knowledge and understanding about life in United Kingdom. This test is also undertaken as a requirement under the Nationality, Immigration and Asylum Act 2002 to demonstrate adequate knowledge of British life and sufficient proficiency in the English language.
